A story on students of Thiagarajar Polytechnic College is featured in Edex live.
Toycathon 2021 is a digital event conducted by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), which promotes native cultural toys in the market that glorifies foreign ones. A team of students from Thiagarajar Polytechnic College, Athik Mohamed M, Deepesh M, and Anung Yangfo K, created a virtual reality game that transcends the user to the Indian Monumental places.
Athik, the ideator of the game, is proud of the game being the first of its kind combining the Indian cultural aspect to technology. He adds, being at home in the lockdown people get bored. This boredom made him create the game with the use of his static cycle, a VR headset, and Vedic music that makes the user feel present in the virtual place. This serves both the physical and the mental health of the people.
The game is appreciated by PM Modi at the event. With the help of the teacher at the college, Ponni M, the team got technological and financial support to build the game. The game is in the early stage. Once the financial fund is brought into it would make a big ‘Heritage Game’ with VR.
