Golden Jubilee Celebration of Lakshmi Vilas, home of the Valliappa family (The Sona Group)

The Valliappa family celebrated the Golden Jubilee of its family home, Lakshmi Vilas, at Pulankuruchi on November 13, 2022. Thiru T. Mano Thangaraj, Hon’ble Minister for IT & Digital Services, TN; Mr. P. Madhusudhan Reddy, Sivagangai District Collector; Sri C. Valliappa, Chairman, The Sona Group; Mr. Chocko Valliappa, Vice Chairman, The Sona Group; Mr. Patrick O’Malley, President of Vee Technologies; Vee Technologies’ Managers team from India and 21 Leaders from the US made the occasion special with their presence.

At the event, Minister expressed his awe for the home, “It is a matter of pride to host a celebration for this 100-year-old house. This house has been built with many special features of architecture. The Chairman of The Sona Group manages this house as if it is still new but a 100-year-old.” He praised Sri. C. Valliappa and the family.

While speaking, Sri. C. Valliappa details the features of the Chettinad home, “The 100-year-old 'Lakshmi Vilas' bears the stamp of our wonderful heritage. Beautiful paintings on the ceilings, stunning tiles on the floors, beautiful artifacts, spacious courtyards, and many rooms lovingly celebrating the home's culture and beauty remind me of a time when families lived together.” He said some photographs depicted the group associating with leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and Rabindranath Tagore.

On this occasion, IT Minister and District Collector planted saplings and played Pallanguzhi, a traditional board game of Tamil Nadu, at Lakshmi Vilas. The event was attended by citizens, government officials, and politicians from various places in the Sivagangai district and Tamil Nadu.
