India was put on the global IT road map, when our Chairman, C. Valliappa, got Texas Instruments to Sona Towers in the 1980s. Much to our surprise, the satellite dish required to set up round-the-clock communication arrived on a bullock cart to the Sona Towers on the Millers Road. Since then, this technology park has incubated numerous IT companies, which went on to become some of the top brands in the IT sector.
Some of the IT giants that incubated in Valliappa Software Tech Park, now known as the Sona Towers, include Oracle, Cisco, VeriFone, etc. Texas Instruments was the first multinational organization to set up their software design centre in our country. The satellite dish helped them to maintain 24/7 communication with the US from India. Therefore, the nations IT capital, Bangalore, began its journey in the IT industry with the arrival of the satellite dish on a bullock cart.
