Smart Villages: Bridging the Global Urban- Rural Divide book launch event is organized by The Sona Group.
The book, Smart Villages: Bridging the Global Urban-Rural Divide, is published by Springer. The book launch event was conducted by The Sona Group and is launched by Mr. Sridhar Vembu, Founder & CEO, Zoho. The book concentrates on the gap between the urban and the rural areas. Mr. Sridhar is the suitable personality to launch the book as he has moved his company operations to a hamlet near Tenkasi, Tamil Nadu.
Mr. Chocko Valliappa, Vice-Chairman of The Sona Group, and Mr. Nirmalesh Sampath Kumar, Director of Innovation and R&D, The Sona Group, have contributed two chapters on the book based on the group’s contributions to the villages in and around Salem. They have emphasized the chapters on empowering women through special training to be independent and to improve the village economy.
The main author of the book, Dr. V. I. Lakshmanan, Professor at University of Toronto, Canada, spoke how inspiring was Gandhi’s words, “the soul of India lives in its villages”, for the former President Abdul Kalam’s PURA (Providing Urban Amenities to Rural Areas). Similarly, the act of Mr. Sridhar moving to rural.
