Sona College of Technology and Thiagarajar Polytechnic College of The Sona Group have won the national Lilavati Award, which is featured in India Blooms.
The second edition of Lilavati Awards aiming at women empowerment was awarded to two of The Sona Group institutions Sona College of Technology and Thiagarajar Polytechnic College. Out of 8 winners of the AICTE Lilavati Awards, both these colleges won the award for the second consecutive year. Sona College of Women in ‘Women Innovators’ category and Thiagarajar Polytechnic College in ‘Literacy and Life Skills’ category.
Sona College's SWIFTT (Sona Women Innovators for Technology Transfer) team has patented 16 technologies. The team members are Dr. R. Malathy, Professor of Civil Engineering; Dr. Gulshan Taj, Associate Professor (Civil); Dr. S. Priyalatha, Associate Professor (Fashion Technology), and Shiney Pearlin, a 3rd-year Fashion Technology student.
Thiagarajar Polytechnic College’s team is led by Dr. A. Gandhimathi with other teaching faculties G. Latha, R. Ayanar, and M. Sumaiya Mubeen and 2nd-year student R. Kiruthika. They imparted literary and life skills to nearly 14,500 beneficiaries.
